Women In Oman

My presentation is divided in to two partsfirst I am going to talk about Omani women in the past and now. Second point is, how Omani women influence the political and business fields.

Lets began withthe first point which is Omani women in the past and now. If we talk about Omaniwomen in the past we can’t say that Omani women didn’t have any role in thesociety. The historical of Omani women is also the history of Omani societybecause she played many roles to build the traditional and believes thatdistinguishes Omani society from any country. If we want tostand on the fact of Omani women, we should go back to rural life at home andnomadic life, too which Omani women were live in to learn to personality ofOmani women which were not one day restricted freedom or living between fourwalls without any aims. Although Omani women didn’t have the educationalresources that would enable them to having place in public life, she shared themen in politics, business and social life. For example, she worked in farms asmany other Omani men, cultivate the soil and return back to her house to feedher children. With the progress and development Omani women has also developedherself with support from the government and their families. In 1970 as SultanQaboos became the president of Oman, he concerned with position of Omani women. Therefore, he provided the women all specific need from education to propertyand the right to work. As we can see now many of Oman women hold specialposition in politics or business and even in social life that what I am going totalk about.

Let’s move to the second point which is how Omani womeninfluenced public life of politics and business. His majesty continued toimprove the women position in Oman and therefor he enable them to enter thepolitics fields such as state council, The nomination and stand for election and Development ofmodern state institutions. For example, from 2002-2003 there were 5 women instate council and that emphasized Sultan Qaboos trust of Omani womenIn the capacityand efficiency to carry out the responsibilities of national participation atthis high level. Because of these opportunities for education, health and socialcare and the training and employment opportunities , Omani women have been ableto occupy a large area in different areas of work and production. She alsobecame able to hold significant position. As we can see now, there are threeministers for high education, tourism and social development. Omani developmentdidn’t limit in politics but also it includes business field. The participationof Omani women in the fields of economy is important and with active involvementin the community. They play major role in the development of all sectors of workand was able to demonstrate their capacity and efficiency. Omani labor marketwitnessed an increased contribution of Omani women in economic activity andlabor force in recent years. Despite an increase in women entrepreneurs in theregion, but there are still many opportunities for entrepreneurs are stillavailable to Omani women should work on investment. Emphasizing of the majorrole of women in Oman in business fields Came the first gathering ofentrepreneurs Gulf, which was held in Muscat last year as a call to broaden theparticipation of Omani women in particular and Gulf women in general of theFederation of GCC Chambers, which aims to support the economic role of women inthe Gulf. also the project "Development of rural women" one of the developmentprojects sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in cooperationwith the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development which is concernedprimarily with the development of rural women in the Sultanate of Oman.
